Miracle Makers: Giving Thanks by Giving Back

Miracle Makers is a series of 30 stories from Walmart and Sam’s Club associates to celebrate the companies’ 30th anniversary of fundraising for CMN Hospitals

Jonathan Lopez has a small scar under his ribcage. For his mother Regina Lopez, it’s a big reminder of why she’s so passionate about fundraising for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

When Jonathan was born, he was struggling to eat.  Two weeks later, he was being rushed into surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital.

“My son wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the doctors and nurses at Texas Children’s,” Regina says. “Throughout the entire process, they gave me whatever peace and assurance they could that they were going to give my baby back to me.”

Now, Jonathan is a healthy, happy 21-year-old. “I love my son so much, so Texas Children’s has always had a really big place in my heart,” Regina says.

As a Walmart Store Manager in Katy, Texas, Regina has the opportunity to share her story with her fellow associates and community, using her experience as an example of all the good Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals can do.

“When you are donating, you are helping millions of kids,” Regina says. “When you think about that, it just puts everything into perspective.”

Regina and her team are excited for this year’s fundraiser and the chance to come together with their community for a good cause once again.

“It’s all about sharing and spreading the love in whatever way we can,” Regina says.
