31 Years of Miracles – Walmart and Sam’s Club Raise $1 Billion

Over the past 31 years, Walmart and Sam’s Clubs across the nation have been raising funds and awareness for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. This past year they broke a record raising over $1 billion for children’s hospitals since 1987, donating more than $524,000 in 2018 to Texas Children’s!  The $1 Billion has been raised by donations taken at the register and creative fundraising like auctions, potluck meals and family events implemented by the associates, who build strong relationships in their communities. Walmart and Sam’s Club have been wonderful partners for the past 31 years and have continually work to #helpkidslivebetter through their support of Texas Children’s Hospital and hospitals all across the U.S.

Walmart associates were invited to Texas Children’s in August for a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil the Walmart and Sam’s Club Patient Waiting Area located in the Heart Center of Legacy Tower, the hospital’s new critical care tower.  The Heart Center moved to the new space on September 22nd, where Walmart and Sam’s Club employees had a signed poster welcoming employees and patients to the new space.   Partners like Walmart and Sam’s Club truly make an impact in our community!

Brian Skaggs, the father of one of our patients, shares his son’s story with Walmart and Sam’s Club associates which helped them understand how they make a difference in the lives of kids like his son, Jhett.
